Fort
Amherst is a scheduled ancient monument of international
historical importance. It is owned by Fort Amherst Heritage
Trust whose objects are to restore the fort and open
it to the public. The Charitable Trustees need your
assistance to continue their good work.
You
can contribute to the restoration fund and if you are
a tax payer you can allow the charity to claim from
the Inland Revenue on the tax you have paid. That sounds
like an excellent idea. No one can avoid tax, but you
can make your tax work for a good cause.
The
Fort appeals to people of all ages, who love to explore
the tunnels and old buildings of the fort. Fort Amherst
comprises over 20 acres of grassy banks, ditches and
woodland, all of which needs to be maintained to make
it safe for the visitors. This is a major undertaking
for the charity, and you can help with a small or large
donation of your choice. Perhaps you have grass cutting
machinery that you would like to donate to a worthy
charity, we are always happy to hear from you, and give
credit to our friends.
